Day 9: July, 23rd: A hectic day |
I dispatched the team, Mapenzi, Mwadalu, Enrico and Lisi, back to Mombasa. Scheduled was a visit at Ribe Boys and Girls High School, St. Johns High School for a scenery and interview with our scholar James and his teacher. This time in a stronger vehicle than before (day 3). On the way, there was enough time to take shots at the scenery, by 1pm the team was arriving at the first school, where only few students had already received a scholarship: the students Phvalle and Kalama. Probably due to the long route and frustration, the diplomacy here did not work anymore! The team had to abandon the trip to both Ribe boys and girls, to follow the teacher who had unfortunately left the school for another errand! He was simply not there anymore! Everyone was now quiet in the vehicle, only the engine and wind!!!!!
They caught up with the teacher eventually, way back in Watamu! And there they could do an amazing interview and started chatting (Enrico and Lisi and the teacher). Jackson, not wishing another scuffle cut them short from the enjoyable chat with the great teacher- here the film team got a real dose of why Aiducation International is doing a great job from the horses mouth- of a TEACHER!
Our Aiducator Mwadalu, left the team at the hotel completely exhausted and worked up and headed home, I got the narration first from Mapenzi, then next day Mwadalu took two days off.
On that night we agreed with Kristin and Florian, that despite the small space on the hard drive, we need to find a way to interview our scholars from the great school from Kabarak (day 7). Our amazing student Obrein would also will be interviewed on the 27th when his school allows him to travel, after his exams. It’s diplomacy at work! Lot’s of diplomacy!
