Day 2, July 16th, 2009: The first shots at a secondary school close by

I was at Malindi High School. We had obtained the licence to shoot the movie on day 1, but were still busy giving out copies of the licence to relevant authorities. Our team responsible for the documentary consists of: Mwangudza (Anderson), Jackson, Enrico, Lisi, and me.

First thing we did was interviewing our first scholar Amani who said: "If it were not for Aiducation International - I do not know where I would be today, but I hope to make good use of my few months and get the best out of this."

Other students we met included Kalu Ngombo -the interview with him was the most tense-, Karema, who was really tried and Ngowa -an excellent student, who is among the 1% best of his year).

We returned home very late...

Unfortunately, the second school had not given approval to shoot the documentary on their ground. Therefore, we called four other schools (Ribe Boys and Ribe Girls, Agha Khan and St. Johns) who were all ready to receive us on day 3. Also, I contacted the father of one of our scholars who lives close to those four schools. He was also very willing to be interviewed!

Day 1, July 15th: The Arrival of the film team

I have worked tirelessly in the hospital, torn between work and receiving Enrico and Lisi at the airport. Everything is set and the taxi is waiting, its already 30 minutes late!

I get Lisi and Enrico at the airport relaxed, chatting, laughing -there had been a drama, the aeroplane had arrived 30 minutes early and flew away, leaving a lady passenger -yelling (!) at everyone -strange- its always the reverse Enrico explains.

I taxi them away for welcome Juice at a juice parlour, here the taxi wheel is changed unoticed.

I pick my son afterwards and arrive in Watamu paradise home of the duo for the next two weeks!
